NewGenLib Development Team to develop more ILMS Drivers for Vufind

NewGenLib development team is all set to develop more ILMS drivers for
Vufind. In the developing world libraries find it difficult to switch to
a better ILMS. Also the libraries might be comfortable using their
traditional ILMS. However users will be expecting a better OPAC. Hence
NewGenLib team will develop MARC21 export tools and Drivers for these
legacy ILMS. The library can continue using their ILMS, library users
will have a pleasant Vufind OPAC.

NGL Vufind Drivers released

Hello all,
NewGenLib development team has released drivers for Vufind. You may find them at http://sourceforge.net/projects/newgenlib/files/
The vufindfiles.zip has 2 files
1. NewGenLib.php which is the driver
2. NewGenLib.ini should be edited to provide newgenlib database(postgresql) information

Also make sure you installed php-pgsql

Change your vufind config.ini to point to NewGenLib driver and also change Authentication to ILS.

You can export the Bibliographic data of NewGenLib using NGLMARCExport.zip.
1. Extract this zip file into your C: Drive.
2. Install JRE 1.6
3. In C:/NGLMARCExport directory double click on launch.jnlp

This tool will export your data to a .mrc file. Use import.sh of vufind to import this file.

NewGenLib – vufind integration starts

NewGenLib open source team has started development of integration with vufind. With this new development NewGenLib OPAC can viewed both in its native OPAC as well as vufind.

NewGenLib Support of more languages

NewGenLib team is now working on interfaces for the following languages
1. Spanish
2. French
3. Russian
4. Portuguese
5. Hindi

NewGenLib supports Unicode. It already supports data entry, storage,
search and retrieval in any language. However for look and feel only
English and Arabic were supported earlier. Now the support for above
languages will be launched shortly this week.
